LCD display does not show images as a viewfinder or images in playback

all display functions seem to work properly, but display is dark, like when the lens cap is on (but it isn't!...

Cannot see pictures on LCD

camera operates normal except I cannot see images on LCD either in preview or playback mode. Where there should be an image, the LCD is black. When going into "menu" mode all the displays are normal. Any ideas on this? Thank you so much......
